Born in Lviv on the 26th of June, 1890. He studied law and history at the universities of Lviv and Vienna. He was one of the founders of the Union of Conservative National Labour. In 1927-1928 he was the voivode of Lviv, and then of Poznań in 1928-1929. He published his articles in the columns of, among others, “Droga”. In the 1930’s he associated himself with the Conservative environment of the “Bunt Młodych” magazine. He was an advocate of collaboration with Ukraine directed against the Soviets. During the Second World War he participated in Polish-Ukrainian negotiations. After the war he initially lived in Kraków, but left for Rome in 1946 where he performed the duties of Consul-General on behalf of the Warsaw government from 1947 to 1949, when he was relieved. Dunin-Borkowski died in Rome on the 19th of May, 1949. His works include Zagadnienie zmiany podziału administracyjnego (1930), and Tendencje ustrojowe w Polsce (1931). According to Adolf Bocheński, who expressed this opinion in his book Między Niemcami a Rosją, Dunin-Borkowski was ‘the leading Polish expert on the Ukrainian question, as well as a profound and insightful political writer’.
